Giving Black: The Black Philanthropy Month Conference

In 2021, the inaugural Giving Black Conference brought together Black thought leaders and social change experts to build community around Black economic empowerment. The conference showcased best practices and people of African origin building philanthropic solutions for social change.

A Turning Point

In 2020, the world reached a turning point. As communities confronted long-standing racial injustice, it became clear that Black voices, Black generosity, and Black changemakers deserved greater visibility, stronger connections, and lasting investment. Giving Black was born from that moment.

From a Conversation to a Global Network

What began as a single conversation quickly grew into a global network. By 2021, Giving Black had convened international conferences and in 2022 we launched The Giving Black Podcast, creating a global platform where Black philanthropy, storytelling, and community leadership could be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Giving Black Today

Today, Giving Black connects philanthropists, community leaders, researchers, fundraisers, and allies from around the world. We amplify Black philanthropy, honour Afrocentric traditions of generosity, and inspire collective action to strengthen communities for generations to come.
