Building a global network
that celebrates Black philanthropy
and advances
Afrocentric fundraising.
Giving Black is a global network celebrating Black philanthropy, amplifying Afrocentric fundraising practices and connecting people, ideas, and resources, to strengthen communities across Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, North America, and beyond.
We honour Afrocentric traditions of generosity while creating new opportunities for learning, collaboration, and collective action.
Our Story
Message From Mide
Charity Begins at Home
I grew up in Brixton, South London, fortunate to live in a vibrant African and Caribbean community where generosity was part of everyday life. Our community had its challenges, yet we worked together, lived together, and shared what little we had with each other. That’s what made us strong.
The Power of Black Philanthropy & Afrocentric Fundraising
When I became an international fundraiser, one question came to mind almost immediately: Why do so few organizations engage Black donors? That question set me on what has become a decades-long journey to demonstrate the power and potential of Black philanthropy and Afrocentric fundraising practices.
Let's Transform Communities
As the creator and convenor of Giving Black™, my vision is to help philanthropists rethink rigid approaches to community investment, while encouraging fundraisers to consider new ways of engaging and raising funds in diverse communities.
If we can achieve these two simple objectives, we can transform communities around the world.
